Chapter Eleven

The Atlantis's dim corridors, shrouded in shadows and an eerie silence, intensified Noah's growing desperation. Memories of Celestia and Corie haunted him as he navigated the ghostly ship with Team Two. Their past smiles and laughter stood in stark contrast to the chilling environment enveloping him. These recollections, coupled with the unsettling discovery of the undamaged toy bear, fueled his urgency. The thought that his family might be trapped somewhere in this foreboding vessel, potentially facing untold dangers, weighed heavily on his heart.

With each room they cleared, a sense of lost opportunity and dwindling time gnawed at Noah. His actions grew increasingly frantic, his searches in each room hastier and more agitated. The tormenting cycle of hope and despair pushed him forward, desperately seeking any sign of Celestia and Corie.

Marley, a seasoned yet skeptical member of Team Two, noticed Noah's erratic behavior. Seizing a moment as the team paused, he pulled Noah aside for a confrontation, the rest of the team sensing the brewing tension.

"Noah, a word?" Marley's tone was firm, his gaze probing. "You're all over the place. You joined last minute, and now you're acting like you're haunted. What's your real reason for being here?"

Noah, caught off guard, struggled to mask his emotions. Revealing his personal connection to the Atlantis could risk his place on the team.

"I'm here to find the missing, just like you," Noah responded, striving for composure.

Marley remained unconvinced. "That look in your eyes says more. This is personal for you, isn't it? I need to know if I can trust you, Noah. We all do."

The accusation lingered, undeniable and heavy. Noah stood at a crossroads, torn between maintaining his cover and the necessity of honesty about his motives.

Under Marley's intense scrutiny, Noah felt compelled to defend himself. He aimed to convey sincerity without revealing too much. "Marley, I assure you; my intentions are aligned with the team's. To help, to find the missing, to do what's right," he said, his voice earnest, hoping to alleviate Marley's suspicions.

Marley’s expression, however, remained skeptical. "I know about your history with Maggie, Noah. Yeah, I know, Mr. Stavros. It's hard not to wonder if Maggie’s influence is affecting your judgment now. If you're chasing ghosts because of past mistakes. That’s not out of the realm of possibility, is it?"
